Logitech Rock the Schools Announces Band Lineup for 2011 – the Biggest Tour Yet!
Logitech announces it will partner with the longest-running free education and entertainment tour for the first time
SYDNEY, Aust. — 22 March, 2011 — Logitech Australia has announced that it will support the Rock the Schools tour this year. Rock the Schools is Australia’s longest-running free education and entertainment tour and this year has announced three emerging bands to perform across 90 high schools in 2011. This year’s lineup includes: Adelaide pop band, Delamare, Melbourne pop-rock band, Red Ink, and Sydney Northern Beaches rock band, Feeding Edgar.
Logitech’s support will help enable Rock the Schools, the only initiative of its kind in Australia, to bridge the gap between the music industry and teenagers, providing an access-all-areas view to the industry while exciting and inspiring the next generation of music professionals at a grass-roots level. Bands that have previously toured include Finabah, Cassette Kids, Operator Please, Amy Meredith and Dash and Will.
Logitech has teamed up with Rock the Schools for the first time and will be heavily involved in the tour. The goal of this collaboration is to promote the power of quality sound in the music industry and within the schools. Logitech will be supporting these three bands by giving two members of each band custom-made Ultimate Ear in-ear monitors, as used live on stage by some of the world’s greatest musicians. This is just one example of the audio quality for music and musicians that Logitech will be showcasing during the tour.
In 2011, Minister for School Education, Early Childhood and Youth, Peter Garrett continues his support of Rock the Schools. “Rock the Schools is an inspiring program that supports emerging artists and educates students about the career opportunities that exist within the music industry. It is the only program of its kind within schools around Australia that offers such a comprehensive musical experience – it rocks!” said Minister Garrett, entering his fourth year as Patron of Rock the Schools.
Delamare has toured around Australia several times supporting some of Australia’s best-loved bands including; The Presets, Pete Murray, Faker, Operator Please, The Getaway Plan and The Hot Lies, gaining a plethora of fans along the way. Delamare will be kicking off the tour at high schools across New South Wales from May 2, and taking it through to Canberra and Victoria until May 27.
Pop-rock band Red Ink will continue the tour after a massive 2010 where their hit song “Catching a Killer” was a favourite on Australian radio and music television. The band has also been making waves, playing at festivals across the country including, Pyramid Rock Festival, Stereosonic, Playground Weekender, One Movement and Festival of the Sun. Red Ink will be rocking out with high school students across Victoria, South Australia and New South Wales from May 30 to July 1.
“We’re stoked to be part of the Logitech Rock the Schools tour this year! With a bunch of rad tracks set to come out this year, we can’t wait to give you guys a sneak peak before everyone else! It’s gonna go off; so come party!” Red Ink said.
Next on the tour will be Feeding Edgar who will be performing throughout NSW and Queensland from July 19 to August 30. The Northern Beaches rock act placed second in the Triple J Unearthed charts and their song “Foot to the Floor” is promising big things after plenty of radio airplay.
The fourth and final band on the tour will be the lucky winner of the Nova “I Am With The Band”competition, which is a nationwide search to unearth Australia’s hottest new act. Supported by the Australian Government’s National Drugs Campaign, the competition kicked off on February 7 and will close on March 13. The winning band receives $10,000 worth of airtime on Nova, mentoring by Sony Music and a full day recording session at the Australian Institute of Music (AIM), the official educational partner of the Logitech Rock the Schools tour. The lucky winners who are selected by public vote, also get the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be part of the 2011 Logitech Rock the Schools and will be touring schools in Western Australia from September 5 to 23, completing the 2011 program.
Other sponsors of the Logitech Rock the Schools initiative in 2011 will include The Australian Institute of Music as the official education partner and the Australian Government’s National Drugs Campaign.
