Windows 7 and Logitech

Logitech is excited about Windows® 7.

And we’re working to make sure Logitech products take full advantage of the features and possibilities of Windows 7 by the time it is expected to go to full release in October.

If you’re using Windows 7 (RC), please understand:

  • Logitech doesn’t provide technical support for pre-release software.
  • However, most Logitech products will work with the current Windows 7 (RC) without any action on your part.

The basic functions of your Logitech keyboard and mouse will work with Windows 7 without any action on your part. To use advanced functions—such as reprogramming controls—please read on.

Advanced features for Logitech mice and keyboards.

In most instances, you can use the advanced features on your Logitech mouse or keyboard with Windows 7. But you need to be running Logitech® SetPoint™ software to do so.

What does SetPoint do? Want to reassign your mouse buttons? Or re-map your keyboard hot keys? SetPoint software can do do the trick.

If you’re using Windows 7 (RC) and you want to use the advanced functionality of your Logitech mouse or keyboard, please make sure you’re running the appropriate version of SetPoint software.

  • For most Logitech mice and keyboards, please use Logitech® SetPoint™ software version 4.80.
  • If you’re using the Logitech® G9 Laser Mouse or the Logitech® G9x Laser Mouse, please upgrade to SetPoint version 5.2.

To download Logitech SetPoint software, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to www.logitech.com/downloads
  2. Select your mouse, keyboard or keyboard-and-mouse combinations
  3. *Important.* When prompted to select an operating system, choose Windows Vista®
  4. Select whether you have a 32- or 64-bit version of Windows. (Not sure what version you have? Here’s an easy way to find out.)

Logitech Webcams

Most Logitech webcams will work with the Windows 7 (RC) if you upgrade to the latest Logitech® Webcam Software version 1.0 (or higher).

There are two easy options to get the most up-to-date Logitech® webcam software:

Download software from www.logitech.com. To do so, please follow these steps:

  1. Go to www.logitech.com/downloads
  2. Select your webcam
  3. Click on “Downloads”
  4. *Important.” When prompted to select an operating system, choose Windows Vista®
  5. Select whether you have a 32- or 64-bit version of Windows. (Not sure what version you have? Here’s an easy way to find out.)

Download software through Windows 7® device center. To do so, please follow these steps:

Plug your webcam into an available USB port

  1. Note: Your computer must be connected to the Internet
  2. If the webcam is compatible with Windows 7, Logitech’s latest software will automatically be available for download simply by following the on screen device message displayed in Windows 7.

Logitech Video Security

Logitech® WiLife Command Center management software does not currently support Windows 7. We are, however, working on an update. If you’d like to be notified when it’s available, sign up for updates on Twitter.

Please note: We do not recommend using Command Center with Windows 7 (RC). If you upgrade from Windows Vista® to Windows 7 (RC), you may encounter error messages related to your Logitech® digital video security system. If you’re using Windows 7 (RC) and also using HomePlug hardware passwords to secure your cameras, Command Center may not be able to identify them.

Logitech Squeezebox™ network music players

To use SqueezeCenter on Windows 7, please install the latest software, SqueezeCenter v. 7.3.3.
