Back to basics: 27 MHz RF

An older favourite, you can use 27 MHz RF up to six feet away from your computer.

It uses less battery power than devices that operate on higher-frequency bands. And it can keep a secret too—advanced encryption securely transmits your keyboard strokes to the computer.

Leave it and love it

With most wireless receivers, you need to plug and unplug them every time you pack up your notebook. The plug-and-forget nano-receiver is different. It’s so small it stays nearly flush with your notebook - so it’s always ready. You just turn off your mouse and go.

It’s a stowaway

If you ever want to store the receiver, you can do that, too. Plus, because you’re not using it, storing your receiver will help conserve battery life.

What you'll need to get started:

To make an Internet call, you and your friend, or colleague, need the following:

1. A computer
2. A microphone (either built into your computer or external)
3. Speakers (either built into your computer or external)
4. A high-speed Internet connection
5. VoIP software.

There are several VoIP software and service providers, including Skype™, Windows Live™ Messenger, Yahoo!® Messenger and AIM®.

Follow these steps to get started:

1. Visit www.skype.com to download the latest Skype software. A handy setup wizard helps you get started. It’s easy. Just follow the prompts.
2. Once you’ve downloaded the software, find out your friend’s Skype Name. Then simply click the “Add Contact” button to enter your friend’s Skype Name into your personal contact list.
3. Select your friend’s name from your Contact list.
4. Press the green button with the picture of a telephone. If your friend has the latest Skype application (plus a properly configured webcam and microphone), you’re ready to start a VoIP conversation.

That’s it. You’ll be talking to your friends, family and colleagues in no time.
