A native of South Korea, Jihae grew up in Africa and Europe before settling in NYC. Jihae began composing with David Steele (Fine Young Cannibals) and Duncan Sheik before independently launching her solo career under her music label, Septem in 2007. Her love of the fine arts has led her to numerous collaborations with multimedia artists including Anna Gaskell, Marco Brambilla and Gerald Byrne.
Her debut album, My Heart is an Elephant features diverse guest artists including filmmaker Michel Gondry on percussion and Lenny Kravitz on bass and guitar. Jihae's sophomore LP, Elvis is Still Alive received startling embrace from music critics. The dynamic range of Jihae's sound is truly unique but has been compared to Fiona Apple, Tom Waits and Grace Jones.
Jihae's new LP, Fire Burning Rain will be released 7/7/2010. She is currently in production of "7001 Nights", a feature film she's co-directing and starring in with acclaimed video artist, Michel Auder.
