Some talents do get time enough to develop themselves optimal. Sanne Hans, also known as Miss Montreal, is one of them. She has been writing song since she was very young and she has been playing in bands since her teens. One of these bands, Ysis, a real girls trio, was slowly making some craze in the circuit. But Sanne came to prominence when she -as Miss Montreal- came out with her songs in early 2008. Her seemingly simple songs suddenly appeared a large audiences. Songs that largely growth from her great love for music and Sarah Bettens of K's Choice, the band of Sarah had with her brother Gert.

Strange enough it was a commercial that brought Miss Montreal a lot of attention. When asked to plete beautiful girl she was the only one who could play a little guitar. Something the director of the commercial just so wanted. While Sanne was singing the text and playing on the guitar, this performance had so much impact that the script was adapted from the commercial and Sanne was suddenly protagonist of the commercial. Despite the fact that it is not her own song Sanne succeeds with her captivating performance to mark this song and with this also the commercial.

The commercial becomes a big You Tube hit and interest is getting so big that even without a single or album in her pocket she is on the radio several times (Giel Beelen, 3FM dj, loves her) and she is also invited to a famous Dutch television program called "De Wereld Draait Door". Then if the first single 'Just A Flirt' releases, it is immediately a big success! And with that great hit in her pocket, her audience is getting bigger and bigger. And the band keeps getting better. Her performance on the Noorderslag Festival 2009 is very strong and very well received by press as well as by people. Her act attracted so much public that there were a lot of fans waiting outside to get in; just enjoying the music, even without seeing Miss Montreal.

Especially with the musicians, the Miss Montreal songs are so clearly stated. Sanne may well be the figurehead, Miss Montreal is indeed a band. A band that rocks and emotions. Sanne thrives well on there. She prefers to write the songs during a night of drinking with Thijs, Mitch and Kobus, the men of her band. It gives her the best inspiration. But she just also easily writes more calm songs when she is alone in her room.

Sanne was not made crazy by all the interest of everybody and took her time to mature her songs. With all the songs Miss Montreal dived into the studio only at the end of the year to see if all those nice songs also would work for an album. Meanwhile they they tested the songs during live performances to the audience. The ideal method.

Now that the set has a stable and exciting construction, the songs grow even more than before. The perfect time thus mix the songs for the album and the public to let loose.

After ‘Just a Flirt’ Miss Montreal’s second single was 'This Is My Life’. The debut album of this young singer songwriter has been in the shops since May 15 last.
