Set Sail
Set Sail
Boasted as “the most exciting thing in Australian music right now,” Set Sail's spontaneous, guerilla performances around the world have gotten them arrested in Madrid, 26 free beers on a Virgin flight, music placement with American clothing retailer Abercrombie & Fitch and over 12,000 Facebook fans worldwide.

Ultimate Ears calls their method “A new development model for independent artists.” The band's success is driven by the power of social media and sharing; this was shown to dramatic effect when Set Sail's violinist had his instrument stolen in London. The band went on a rice fast, appealing to their Facebook and YouTube subscribers to help replace the instrument and fund the rest of the tour. This campaign raised over $8,500 in donations.

Currently touring in the United States, Set Sail will be returning to Australia in October to take their sound from the street to the stage for their debut national tour. Dropping out of law and literature degrees to play music on the streets may not sound like the smartest of career choices, but for the boys in Set Sail, it turned out to be a once in a lifetime opportunity.
