Full Circles
This is a great month for Ultimate Ears and the Artists to Watch program. We feature music from indie heavyweight Imaad Wasif along with tracks from The Saturday Knights, Margot and the Nuclear So and So's and C-Money and the Players Inc.
I am especially proud of this month’s lineup because these artists represent the complete spirit and scope of the Artists to Watch program. Every month we try to present a collection of musicians based on fan recommendations, offerings from great record labels, global music trends, and personal favorites. This month just feels like a synthesis of everything that we have been building since this program began.
Margot and the Nuclear So and So’s were recommended to us 10 months ago by a fan of theirs from the Chicago scene. The band had just released their debut album and were touring locally. We contacted their management and made a plan to help promote their next album when it was available. Imagine my surprise – nearly a year later – when I learned that Brian Deck, my favorite producer worked on their latest album, ANIMAL!
I heard The Saturday Knights about a year ago from a sampler sent out by their label, Light in the Attic. This is an amazing record label that consistently offers music that should be on any collector's shelves. And for the record, their samplers are some of the best CD’s you will ever get your hands on. Bookmark their website and visit them often.
And as for C-Money and the Players Inc, well… they are the inspiration behind this very program. I met C-Money at the San Diego Street Scene a few years ago with Slightly Stoopid and he gave me his CD, The Rebirth of Hip-Hop. The album blew me away – reminded me of Miles’ last album, Doo-Bop. And it was then that I realized that we needed to create a platform to share all of this music that we get exposed to and to connect music lovers from around the world. And that was the genesis for what you are hearing and reading now. So get inspired by C-Money’s exclusive sneak preview of his upcoming studio album and send in recommendations for your favorite bands.
