It Ain’t My Fault
For this month, we are celebrating music with 2 legends – Trombone Shorty and Massive Attack. Trombone Shorty started playing 20 years ago, when he was 4, and Massive Attac's first single came out right around that same time. And while times may have changed, the music just keeps getting better.
Trombone Shorty has been making news headlines all over since the release of his first major label album, Backatown. But I want to call attention to a recent project that he just finished that is worth noting. He sat in on an all night jam session with Mos Def, Lenny Kravits, Tim Robbins and the Preservation Hall Jazz Band to come up with a song to benefit the Gulf residents. All proceeds went to Gulf Aid and the song was performed live as well as on the web. It is a brilliant recording and it not only showcases his playing, but his dedication to his community and to his roots.
This is the true voice of music – music for awareness and for change. So while the spill might not have been those musicians’ fault – they sure are out there being part of a solution.
Until next month...
