Some music takes a few listens before its secrets unlock. And some music just digs right into you the first time that you hear it – like a long-lost old friend. And that’s how I feel about Fitz and the Tantrums. Their music is so good and so full and so catchy that I feel like I must have heard it before. Maybe it is a timeless sound – or a new take on an old sound. But whatever it is, it is infectious and we are in good company in featuring this month on our program. VH1 is highlighting them as a “You Oughta Know Artist” and Jay Leno is showcasing them on the Tonight Show on the 5th. Not a bad month at all!

The other band that we are featuring this month is another group out of LA who is burning up the charts. Voxhaul Broadcast has a completely different sound and they have been a mainstay at the influential radio station KCRW and labeled one of LA's “Best New Indie Bands” by industry tastemaker Nic Harcourt.  Their debut album just released in late March so let’s wish them luck as they replicate their west coast success throughout the rest of the country. Looks like New York and Seattle are on board already.

Things certainly are shaping up for a great year of music ahead of us. I personally can’t wait for all the festivals.
