Summer is closing out. School is starting up. The last of the festivals are wrapping up. This month, we are thrilled to showcase music from 3 amazing artists – Trampled by Turtles, Mother Mother and Outlett.

I first heard Trampled by Turtles when I walked into a small convenience store. Something very different was happening on the radio. I went over to the clerk and asked if he knew who was playing. He read the satellite radio station and then told me that he is outlaw country. Now – I’m not one to normally gravitate towards country but this was different. Trampled by Turtles are different. They defy a simple genre. Better to just say that they are the true Americana spirit. How they can play so fast is anyone’s guess. And just when you think that they can’t get any faster - you realize that they are just warming up.

I first heard of Mother Mother from my 16 year-old cousin. I asked him what’s new and he pointed me their way. This is classic smart-pop! Vocals that trade between man and woman with excitement and finesse. Great music that I only wish had been on my radar sooner.

And out of LA, we are pleased to showcase one of our local bands who are getting plenty of local attention. Outlett is a band to watch for the summer of 2010.

What will the fall bring? Hard to say but one thing is certain. The beat goes on.
