Logitech® io Personal Digital Pen Now Available in the U.S.
Write, Store, and Share Holiday Wish Lists with the Pen that Remembers Everything You Write
Fremont, CA - November 13, 2002 - Logitech (Nasdaq:LOGI) (Switzerland:LOGN) is now shipping the Logitech® io™ Personal Digital Pen to a variety of online retailers and catalogs in the U.S. Suggested price for the pen plus supporting software and digital paper is $199.95 USD.
Announced earlier this year, the Logitech io pen lets people easily share, store, organize and retrieve their handwritten information by simply writing with ink on paper -- the way they always have. An optical sensor embedded in the pen captures the handwritten images, storing up to 40 pages in memory. This captured digital information can then be transferred into the PC by synching the pen via a USB cradle. The Logitech® io™ solution offers total mobility, since all that is necessary to carry is the pen and a digital paper notebook.
Online retailers now carrying the Logitech io pen include Amazon.com, Buy.com, CDW, Staples.com, FranklinCovey.com, Microwarehouse.com, PC Connection, Insight and Zones. These retailers can be accessed at www.logitechio.com/wheretobuy. The pen will also be available on retail shelves early next year.
The complete Logitech io retail package includes the pen, a rapid-charging USB cradle, Logitech io Software, one Mead® Cambridge® Limited Digital Notebook, Post-it® Software Notes-Lite and one pocketbook of Post-it® Notes for Digital Pens from 3M, an AC adaptor and five ink refills. Later this year, FranklinCovey® will introduce FranklinCovey® iScribe Digital Planning pages for use with the Logitech io pen (see www.franklincovey.com/iscribe for information). Additional digital paper can be purchased wherever the pens are sold.
"The io has received an enthusiastic reception from our channel partners," said Chris Bull, director of marketing for Retail Pointing Devices. "We expect equally positive acceptance from consumers looking for a better way to organize and use their handwritten notes."
System requirements for the Logitech io pen include a PC running Windows® 98 or higher, a 233 MHz or higher processor, 64 MB RAM (minimum - 128 MB recommended), Internet access, Microsoft® Internet Explorer 5.01 or later and Microsoft® .net framework (both included on CD in the retail package), an available USB port, CD ROM drive and pre-printed digital paper (initial supply included). Email support requires a MAPI-compatible email client such as Lotus Notes® or Microsoft® Outlook®.
