Two Logitech Peripherals Receive Red Dot Design Awards
HANNOVER, Germany CeBIT March 14, 2007 Logitech (SWX: LOGN) (NASDAQ: LOGI), a world leader in personal peripherals, today announced that the Logitech® diNovo Edge keyboard and the Logitech® NuLOOQ navigator device were honored with prestigious 2007 red dot design awards.
The official presentation of the 2007 red dot design awards will take place on June 25, 2007 at the Essen-Aalto Theater in Essen, Germany. The winning products will also be on display at a special exhibition from June 26 — July 23, 2007 at the red dot design museum in Essen.
Logitech is proud to be recognized by one of the world´s most distinguished design institutions, said Guerrino De Luca, president and chief executive officer. We are first and foremost a company that creates great products, and these awards legitimize the significant resources we apply to the product design process. The Logitech diNovo Edge and the NuLOOQ navigator are breakthrough designs that appeal to people´s desire for exceptionally attractive, high-performance peripherals.
The quality of Logitech´s award-winning products has already won over our jury, which puts Logitech among the best in the design industry, said Dr. Peter Zec, initiator of the red dot design award and president of the International Council of Societies of Industrial Design (ICSID). This means that Logitech´s products have successfully stood up to the judgment of our design experts in comparison with products from all around the world.
The Logitech diNovo Edge Keyboard
Meant to be seen and touched, the Logitech diNovo Edge is laser cut from a single, semi-translucent piece of black Plexiglas® and set into a brushed-aluminum frame. The stylish, minimalist profile is accentuated by its dynamic, backlighted icons that are embedded within the keyboard. When not illuminated, the icons are invisible, creating a sleek design that reduces the number of visible buttons. Logitech´s first rechargeable keyboard, the diNovo Edge features an integrated, touch-sensitive navigation-and-scroll panel and embedded Bluetooth® wireless technology.
The Logitech NuLOOQ Navigator Device
Approximately half the size and shape of a tennis ball, the NuLOOQ navigator features a moveable rubber-like ring (called the navring) and a touch-sensitive circular disk (called the tooltuner). With the multi-dimensional navring, people can easily navigate images and documents while enjoying simultaneous 360-degree pan and zoom. The tooltuner helps give people precision control when adjusting brush size in Adobe® Photoshop®, text attributes in Adobe InDesign®, or timelines in video or audio editing. The NuLOOQ navigator works with a wide range of programs including Adobe Creative Suite® 2, Adobe Photoshop Elements 4, Final Cut Pro®, iTunes®, Microsoft® Visio® and many others.
The red dot Design Awards
With more than 2,500 submissions from 43 different countries, the red dot design awards is one of the leading design competitions worldwide. Each year since 1955, the Essen Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westfalen has selected outstanding design quality and paid official tribute to its award-winning products by displaying them in exhibition in the red dot design museum, which receives more than 120,000 visitors annually.
