Back in June of 2020, we <\/span>announced an industry-first carbon transparency effort<\/span><\/a> to include detailed carbon impact transparency labeling on all product packaging across our entire portfolio. Like nutrition labels on food packaging, we believe that consumers should be empowered and informed about the impact of their purchasing decisions.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Today on Earth Day, <\/span>we are excited to report that the Logitech G PRO Wireless Gaming Mouse is the first Logitech product to feature this new carbon impact label and is now available in stores<\/b>. Logitech <\/span>G PRO Wireless Gaming Mouse<\/span><\/a> is one of six gaming products with carbon impact labels rolling out in this quarter, <\/span>features a number at the top of the label that indicates the product\u2019s full lifecycle carbon footprint in kilograms of carbon dioxide equivalent (kg CO<\/span>2<\/span>e) taking a typical two year use period, 7.84 kg CO2e being the measurement for the Logitech PRO Wireless gaming mouse, which is approximately equivalent to a gallon of gas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The six other products include: <\/span>G213 Gaming Keyboard<\/span><\/a> (22.0 kg CO2e), <\/span>G903 LIGHTSPEED Gaming Mouse<\/span><\/a> (8.64 kg CO2e), <\/span>G502 HERO Gaming Mouse<\/span><\/a> (7.10 kg CO2e), <\/span>G102 LIGHTSYNC Gaming Mouse<\/span><\/a> (5.51 kg CO2e), <\/span>G304 LIGHTSPEED Gaming Mouse<\/span><\/a> (8.76 kg CO2e) and <\/span>G502 LIGHTSPEED Gaming Mouse<\/span><\/a> (8.69 kg CO2e).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition, <\/span>we are also offering <\/b>our entire product carbon impact methodology and measurement processes, as well as the<\/b> resulting transparency label process for others in the consumer electronics industry to use<\/b>.\u00a0 Our hope is that by opening up our learnings and the expertise we have developed, it will encourage others to follow and build on our body of work for the betterment of the planet.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This is how it works.\u00a0 <\/span>O<\/span>ver the last number of years, we have been working to develop our Life Cycle Analysis (LCA) capability. With LCA, we can quantify the carbon footprint of the product, from sourcing of raw materials, through to manufacturing, distribution, consumer use and product end of life. This analysis and approach is third party certified across all products.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

To ensure the integrity of our calculations we have spent years collaborating with IFU Hamburg, an <\/span>iPoint Group<\/span><\/a> company, to establish a valid, ISO-aligned measurement protocol for our products. All figures have also been independently validated to <\/span>DEKRA <\/b><\/a>certification standards<\/span>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For <\/span>the carbon label, every last detail of the product’s journey has been scrutinised – from the sourcing of raw materials, manufacture and transport of the product, energy used during the product’s lifetime and eventual end of life management of the product such as recycling at its end of life<\/b>.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Furthermore all gaming products are certified carbon neutral <\/span>since Dec 2019<\/span><\/a>.\u00a0 For the carbon we could not design out of the product, we\u2019ve collaborated with Natural Capital Partners to identify and apply certified carbon offset instruments to achieve carbon neutral status for all our gaming products. All our carbon instruments are <\/span>REDD+<\/b><\/a> that are focused on reducing emissions from deforestation and forest degradation and enhancing the role of conservation, sustainable management of forests and enhancement of forest carbon stocks in alignment with United Nations Sustainable Development goals.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
