In 2019, only <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/ischoolonline.berkeley.edu\/blog\/women-computing-computer-science\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">one in five (21%) people<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who earned computer science degrees were women. Investing in access to education, mentors and supportive communities\u00a0could help close that gap. In <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.logitech.com\/blog\/2022\/08\/09\/logitech-and-girls-who-code-research-asks-what-and-who-is-holding-women-back-in-tech\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">research from Logitech<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> 44% of women surveyed reported that programs dedicated to women help them keep going in their careers. Increasing opportunities for women and girls to learn digital skills and join women-friendly communities could make the measurable gains in gender equality the industry needs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Logitech is committed to equipping the next generation of science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) leaders with the tools they need to launch and build successful careers. Part of that mission is the Logitech MX Master Series #WomenWhoMaster, a celebration of women in STEM. #WomenWhoMaster includes opportunities for girls to build a passion for tech and IT as well as advice, tips, and tools for women and girls who want to enter and advance in STEM fields. Recently the series featured three women who are helping advance STEM education and access. Read about them below!<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><b>Faiza Yousuf: Recognition and Representation for Women\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-29484 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/www.logitech.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Faiza_Yousuf_Pic2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"133\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.logitech.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Faiza_Yousuf_Pic2.jpg 960w, https:\/\/www.logitech.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Faiza_Yousuf_Pic2-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.logitech.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Faiza_Yousuf_Pic2-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/>Early in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.logitech.com\/en-us\/mx\/faiza-yousuf.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Faiza Yousuf\u2019s<\/a> career, she was often the only female tech employee at her company. Since that lonely start, she has dedicated her career to helping women and girls in Pakistan feel supported and find opportunities in STEM. Faiza\u2019s day job is senior product manager at Genentech, but she moonlights as founder of WomenInTechPK, co-founder of CodeGirls, and program director of CaterpillHERs, underscoring her\u00a0 commitment to creating visibility and community for women in tech while instilling female empowerment. Faiza often sees women gain power in their families and communities after participating in one of her programs. For example, CodeGirls participants who are from medium-to-low income families commonly double their family\u2019s income after graduating and securing a job.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBecause of these programs we have seen women be able to buy cars, buy houses and get their children into better schools,\u201d Faiza said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h3><b>Jerelyn Rodriguez: Redefining Who a Technologist Is<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-29485\" src=\"https:\/\/www.logitech.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Jerelyn-Rodriguez-Headshot_1.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"200\" height=\"120\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.logitech.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Jerelyn-Rodriguez-Headshot_1.jpeg 1800w, https:\/\/www.logitech.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Jerelyn-Rodriguez-Headshot_1-300x180.jpeg 300w, https:\/\/www.logitech.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Jerelyn-Rodriguez-Headshot_1-1024x614.jpeg 1024w, https:\/\/www.logitech.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Jerelyn-Rodriguez-Headshot_1-768x461.jpeg 768w, https:\/\/www.logitech.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Jerelyn-Rodriguez-Headshot_1-1536x922.jpeg 1536w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 200px) 100vw, 200px\" \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.logitech.com\/en-us\/mx\/jerelyn-rodriguez.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jerelyn Rodriguez<\/a> is breaking the stereotype that a tech worker is white and male. She co-founded The Knowledge House, a Bronx-based nonprofit that teaches young people from underserved neighborhoods digital skills. At The Knowledge House, fellows can enroll in classes to learn in-demand technical skills, but they also learn career-building tools like how to overcome imposter syndrome.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cBlack, brown and low-income folks, we\u2019re unique, because we have overcome so many life challenges. Imposter syndrome makes us think about our differences negatively. For many years she believed that she was a non-technical person and felt intimidated by technology. But then a career change in her mid-twenties prompted a journey to teach herself to code. She was successful, but without a technical background it was hard to find resources she could easily understand. So once she established herself in the tech industry, she used her personal story as inspiration to help others. Her book \u201cCrossing the Rubycon: How to Learn to Code and Build a Programming Career,\u201d is written to coach non-technical people who want to learn to code. The book includes a step-by-step guide on how to gain technical skills, land a coding job, and build a successful career as a programmer. <\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s \u201ca resource to refer to whenever [readers] lose confidence in themselves or feel they cannot move on,\u201d Nadia said.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Women like Faiza, Jerelyn, and Nadia are leading the way for the next generation of tech professionals.
