With the MX Master 4 hitting the market, we wanted to better understand the benefits that MX Master users enjoy. To gather those insights, we surveyed 55 MX Master 3S users across eight countries on the biggest differences between their current and previous device. The results make a compelling case for the MX Master as a valuable top-tier mouse for organizations.

Ergonomics: A priority for workplace comfort

The MX Master line is designed for extended use with less strain and fatigue, making it ideal for employees who spend long hours handling peripherals. 

The survey shows the MX Master 3S delivers unrivaled comfort. The vast majority of survey respondents (96%) said the MX Master 3S is more comfortable than their previous mouse. Meanwhile, 67% of respondents said the ergonomic design and 33% said the improved comfort and ergonomics of the MX Master 3S were some of the features they most appreciated over their previous mouse.

“Other mice feel like a cheap piece of plastic in comparison and often feel too small and light,” one respondent wrote.

When asked which features of the MX Master 3S mouse contribute to its comfort:

  • 89% said the contoured shape

  • 78% said the thumb rest

  • 69% said button placement

  • 53% said texture or materials

  • 44% said the overall weight

For organizations prioritizing workplace comfort, an MX Master 3S, and now the MX Master 4 for Business, which retained the same shape as its predecessor, is a strategic move that provides enhanced comfort while improving efficiency.

Productivity: Navigating with precision and speed

MX Master users also rank it as a productivity powerhouse. Survey respondents consistently cited the MX Master 3S as an impressive productivity-enhancing tool, with roughly 87% reporting they felt the mouse increased their productivity compared to their previous mouse.

“It has greatly increased my productivity by allowing quicker access to things I do regularly,” one respondent wrote.

Standout features driving this response include:

  • Vertical and horizontal scrolling: The MX Master 3S eliminates common frustrations tied to slow or imprecise scrolling, enabling smoother and faster workflow transitions. With intuitive dual-scroll functionality, users can navigate large documents and spreadsheets with ease—a critical benefit for professionals working in finance, data analytics, or content creation. When asked what features contribute to their productivity, 69% said the MagSpeed scroll wheel.

  • Faster navigation: Seven out of 10 respondents said the thumb wheel is a key driver for faster navigation and multitasking.

Other key features driving satisfaction

Beyond highlighting the comfortable shape and design and productivity improvements, the survey results reveal a host of additional benefits widely appreciated by MX Master users:

  • Thirty-one percent of respondents said the build quality and design was the biggest improvement they noticed when switching to an MX Master 3S. Apart from its modern aesthetic, the mouse’s high-quality construction ensures reliability, even with heavy daily use.

  • Features like thumb-operated controls were noted as intuitive and practical, with 25% of users highlighting how they help simplify workflows. Additionally, 27% of respondents noted button customization as the feature they appreciate. For organizations relying on equipment that can adapt to diverse tasks, these controls deliver significant operational value. 

Noted one respondent, “I had a task where I had to copy/paste a couple thousand lines of text, which was not able to be automated. The MX Master allowed me to re-map copy/paste to comfortable buttons to speed up this arduous task. I was able to complete it in less time than my previous mouse and with less hand strain from repetitive motions.”

  • Scrolling performance: One-third of respondents specifically mentioned scrolling as a standout improvement over their previous mouse, emphasizing how the smoother functionality positively impacts productivity. 

  • Another respondent added, “I use [CRM software] every single day, and navigating reports that span the entire width of the page is so much easier now that I have the horizontal scroll wheel.”

A recommendation that speaks volumes

The MX Master 3S is not just a mouse but an essential tool that users are eager to share. According to the survey, employees are highly likely to recommend the MX Master 3S for broader adoption across their organizations, making it an easy choice for IT decision-makers seeking a universally well-received tool. Every respondent (100%) said they would recommend the MX Master to a colleague, while 89% said they would recommend it to their IT or procurement department.

The survey data also reveals strong user approval for IT leaders to implement the MX Master 3S organization-wide due to its blend of usability and tangible productivity improvements.
