Logitech Partners with Girls Who Code to Inspire the Next Generation of Coders and Game Developers

Logitech kicked off the summer by participating for the third consecutive year in the Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program (SIP). This virtual, two-week Zoom classroom introduces girls and non-binary individuals from across the U.S. to coding basics while participating in classrooms with Logitech employees and partners. SIP’s project-driven curriculum focused on game design, where students were challenged to design their own game using the skills they learned.

With a shared goal of closing the gender gap in tech, Logitech continues to inspire future female and non-binary coders through partner-led sessions during SIP. This year, Logitech hosted five sessions featuring our diverse and global employees as well as partners from AbleGamers, GLAAD and the Women Who Master program:

  • Finding & Getting an Internship with a focus on LinkedIn and resume best practices and interview tips and tricks.
  • Meet the Masters: A Chat with our STEM Trailblazers featured three Women Who Master partners – Nikita Washington, Lavanya Jawaharlal and Danielle Boyer – who shared their emotional and inspirational stories navigating the “zigs and zags” as women in STEM.
Logitech’s Women Who Master partners share their stories with the our Girls Who Code Summer Immersion Program class.
  • Representation in Gaming included partners from AbleGamers and GLAAD discussing how to move representation forward within gaming for a more inclusive and welcoming industry.
  • Unlocking Career Opportunities in the Gaming Industry was a conversation with four Logitech G employees showcasing the diverse opportunities and paths toward gaming careers.
  • Cybersecurity & Privacy was an insightful discussion about potential online harms and how to best protect yourself and your data online.

SIP concluded with a partner-led graduation where students presented their final projects – an impressive library of games varying from collection, maze, and choose your own adventure (CYOA) styles. Each student showed the breadth of coding knowledge they learned over the two-week program, and even went above and beyond by adding vivid imagery and sound effects to enhance their games.

Logitech is proud to continue supporting Girls Who Code and their annual Summer Immersion Program, and look forward to seeing these students go on to have successful coding, gaming or STEM careers.
