There was always something that prevented meetings from running smoothly due to outdated and incompatible technology: the wrong adapter, the mic or speakers didn’t sync with the presenter’s laptop, the built-in cabling wasn’t working. The result was wasted time, diminished productivity, and growing frustration among IT and meeting participants alike. 

As IT experts at PenTeleData, the team would find a workaround—even if that meant someone would have to climb on the table and plug in an HDMI cord that would hang from the ceiling, or keep a drawer full of adaptors to accommodate various device setups. The reality was, the meeting room technology was extremely expensive and needed constant maintenance. It was time for an upgrade.

Mike Bodamer, manager of PenTeleData IT Services, led the search. He knew he didn’t want his team of 10 technical experts spending too much valuable time on company upgrades as opposed to customer needs. The deployment, meeting experience, and management became so seamless that PenTeleData discovered a potential new revenue opportunity in offering to install Logitech rooms to customers already using PenTeleData’s 10,000+ miles of fiber optic cabling.

Customer installations, however, presented unique challenges. Each site was different, needing to accommodate diverse setups such as Microsoft Teams, Android devices, legacy integration, and various room configurations. PenTeleData knew that a failed installation could jeopardize critical customer relationships, so reliability was a top priority.

To overcome these challenges, PenTeleData explored Logitech Select for customer installations, aiming to enhance reliability and provide comprehensive support. With Logitech Select, field technicians are able to reach Logitech Support within minutes and resolve issues much more quickly than if they have to scan through documentation or reach out to a colleague to troubleshoot.

“It’s saving me a lot of time, because I don’t then have to handhold the install team,” Bodamer says.

Total install times dropped from days to just hours, saving valuable time and creating a positive customer experience.

Bodamer initially considered training his team up on Logitech with the goal of eliminating the need for Logitech Support, but changed his mind after the first two customer installs. At both sites, PenTeleData’s IT team felt more confident when collaborating with Logitech, speeding delivery, minimizing downtime, and optimizing performance.

“At first I thought we would self-support, but why? It’s one thing to go through training, it’s another to do it live,” he says. “Logitech enables us to focus on what we do best and expand our services while gaining a trusted partner in the process.”
